This is a special update for all those who have been patiently waiting in line for our May 2020 Caramel color Golden Retriever litter of puppies.
Our Caramel color Golden, Scarlett is a 4.5 year old female who has had absolutely wonderful litters in the past. Her last litter was born in November 2019, and we bred her again this year for the May 2020 litter. We observed several matings between her and Aramis, our 2 year old male Golden, and projected a birth date in late May of this year. On occasion like humans, a female may not get pregnant after mating and we have now confirmed that this is the case with our Scarlett. Her projected due date for the May 2020 litter is now in the past and there will be no pups this time around since she did not conceive. Some people might be thinking, “Well, wasn’t she showing at all?” Our Goldens typically do not start showing until about 2 to 2.5 weeks before their due date. A good breeder knows that during a pregnancy (about 4 to 5 weeks before the due date), the daily dietary food intake of the pregnant momma needs to be doubled or even tripled so that the she can support the healthy development of her babies that she is carrying. During this time a mother dog puts on weight even if she is not carrying pups and can appear to be pregnant. When we got to the third week in May, we began to realize some other signs that were not there. But we had our hopes up until now, and have confirmed no pregnancy.
We feel so very sad about the disappointment that this news brings to all of the families who have been patiently waiting in line for our May 2020 Caramel color litter. We know that your homes would be perfect for our little babies. We’ve had Scarlett checked out and she is perfectly healthy according to our Veterinarian. But we also think this reprieve for Scarlett will be good for her and may very well be nature’s way of helping her to stay healthy with plenty of energy for her next litter. We anticipate healthy litters from her in the future. We are now making plans for her next heat cycle around September of this year with a due date projected in November, and a take home date projected for January 2021.
For those who are and have been on our waiting list, you have several options: (1) you can request an immediate refund of your deposit(s); or (2) you can wait for our next caramel color litter of pups; or (3) you can choose one of our other upcoming litters that we will be announcing in June. If you chose options (2) or (3) to get on our next waiting list, you will be given priority over others who have not been on our waiting list. For those of you who have a double deposit that you’ve placed on more than one pup and your second deposit is on another litter, you may want to consider moving this deposit to the other litter. If both deposits are on this same litter, then you will need to choose between option 1, 2 or 3. Please contact us either by phone, email, or text message to let us know how we can best meet your needs with the options we have available to us.
Again, we are truly sorry for this disappointing news concerning our May 2020 caramel color litter. Please accept our sincerest apologies and know that we wish to make all of our customers feel like they’ve been treated right.
Thank you once again for considering Emery-n-Denise’s Golden Puppies!
