If You Are Driving To Our Facility...

If You Are Driving To Our Facility...

"Is it ok if we come to your facility and see your Goldens before placing a deposit?"

We get asked by some people if we would allow them to drive out to our facility to see our adult Goldens and perhaps see our operation and facilities. Although we want and encourage our customers to come out to our facility and see our Goldens, we do not extend an open invitation to anyone and everyone. But if you have placed a non-refundable deposit, we will invite you to come out to see the puppies at around five weeks of age; that is, if we have notified you that there were enough pups in the litter for you to get one. You will also pick your puppy at that time when the pups are 5 weeks old.

We have that limitation in place for a number of reasons including liability, our schedule, and for the security of our dogs and facilities. Some people have wanted to see our dogs and facilities but they have no intention of buying a puppy. However, some of you may reason, "How am I supposed to determine if Emery-n-Denise's Golden Puppies
TM is a quality breeder with healthy, well taken care of dogs, and clean facilities before I place a deposit if they won't let me come there beforehand?" That's an excellent question and we use to answer it like this: "Your deposit is refundable, so if you don't like what you see when you come out after the pups are born, you can ask for a refund." Not one person has ever asked for a refund after seeing our facility. But since we did away with our "refundable deposit" offer, we can no longer give that answer. However, we are truly proud of our adult dogs and facilities. We bought this property and became Golden Retriever breeders in 2006. Since that time, every customer that has come to our facility has made comments like, "Your facilities are amazing!", "...well designed and kept!", "...your dogs are gorgeous!", "...you have beautiful property!"  We pride ourselves in being the best breeder available to Golden Retriever lovers. We think we are far superior to most other breeders, and we put our heart and soul into breeding this magnificent breed. But we do this for the passion and love of the Golden Retriever breed, not to make extra money so we can pay the mortgage or a car payment.

We are giving all this introduction to say this: We will let you know when you can come out to see our dogs, their puppies, and our facilities. We are extremely confident you will be impressed with what you see (because everyone always is). In the meantime, you just have to talk to us, get to know us, develop a confidence in us, read the on-line Google reviews about us, and then patiently wait to get one of our puppies so that you can come out to our facility and meet us. We know this isn't going to be acceptable for everyone and we are ok with that. But if you like our website, have read our personally written blog articles, talked to us at length over the phone, and like what we are about, we promise you won't be disappointed.

So that means when you do finally get to come out here, it will be when the puppies are 5 weeks old to make your puppy selection. Then you will come out again when the pups are 9 weeks old to pay your final balance and take your puppy home! However, because we discourage visits from the general public and unannounced visits (yes, that happens on occasion), we do not publish where our exact location is. We actually had to put a security gate at the entrance to our property because uninvited visits were occurring a little too often. So now, we just want everyone to know that we live in southern Missouri, southeast of Springfield, Missouri, outside a small rural town called Ava. Ava has a population of about 3500 people, a Walmart Supercenter, Sonic Drive-In, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Subway, a couple of excellent Mexican food restaurants, and our most notable attractions, two traffic signal lights (lol). We are located 10-15 minutes from the Walmart located at the main traffic signal in Ava.

We schedule one party at a time so that we can devote our full attention to each individual or family. We like to schedule arrival times on the odd number hours (e.g., 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, and 5:00pm). This leaves us enough time for your appointment as well as preparation time for the next party. The meet-n-greet and puppy take home dates (Fri, Sat, and Sun) are usually booked solid which means a very busy weekend for us. This is why we ask that you arrive on time so that we have time to prepare. We have a gated property which will remain closed until the time of your appointment. If it is not open when you arrive, please wait. Thank you for helping us accomodate everyone who comes out for their puppy in the most organized way possible.

Also, please remenber that your second deposit at 5-weeks of age can be paid by personal check, but your final payment when you come to take your puppy home MUST be paid with either Cash, Venmo, or PayPal. If a credit card is used with Venmo or PayPal, there is an additional fee of approximately 3.5% which we do not receive.

COMING FROM THE NORTH: (Springfield, Kansas City, St. Louis, Illinois, Iowa, etc.)
We tell our customers to set their GPS directions for the Walmart located at 1309 NW 12th Avenue, Ava, MO 65608. However in Missouri, Google tends to take you on winding roads, bumpy dirt roads, and sometimes driving thru little streams or creeks of water. This is totally unecessary and you should stay on major roads. Avoid Missouri county roads or roads designated with a double letter like KK, JJ, or AJ. The directions to get here are so simple, with good, straight roads, and very few turns to make. Wherever you are coming from north of us, you will eventually have to travel on U.S. Highway 60 going east or west. Then at Mansfield, there are two exits and you want to take State Highway 5 South towards Ava. Once you exit off the 60, the Walmart is straight ahead just 13 miles going south. Then, the night before we have you scheduled to arrive, we will text you the final driving instructions to get to our facility. Some people stay in a motel in town or a B-n-B the night before and come to our place early the next morning so they can get back on the road sooner to make their long journey back home. You might consider this if you are coming from out of state with a long drive. Search for places to stay near Ava, Missouri on-line. Branson or Springfield are about an hour and 15 minute drive from us. If you click this link, it will open up Google Maps showing the City of Ava near the Walmart, Sonic, and McDonald's. Then you can zoom out or drag the screen to get a better idea where we are relative to your location.

COMING FROM THE SOUTH: (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, etc.)
We tell our customers to set their GPS directions for Ava, MO 65608. However in Missouri, Google will sometimes take you on winding roads, bumpy dirt roads, and sometimes driving thru little streams or creeks of water. This is totally unnecessary and you don't have to do this to get to our facility. There are several routes you can consider depending on where you are originating from, but don't let Google take you on a wild-goose chase on winding roads or dirt roads; stay on major roads (avoid Missouri county roads or roads designated with double letters like KK, JJ, or AJ). Wherever you are coming from (south of us), you might choose to travel through Arkansas. The Arkansas/Missouri border is about 40 miles south of Ava if you come north on State Highway 5 and travel up thru Gainesville, Wasola, and Squires. If that is your chosen route, you don't need to go all the way into the City of Ava because we are actually south of the main strip in Ava. But if you decide to come in on U.S. Highway 60 which many people take when coming up US 65 thru Branson and Springfield and then East on US 60. After about 38 miles at Mansfield, you want to take State Highway 5 South towards Ava. But either way, whether you come up Hwy 5 northward thru Gainesville or East on US 60 to Hwy 5 southward thru Mansfield, we will text you the final driving instructions that will get you to our facility the night before you come.

BILL MARTIN GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORT (AOV - Click here to map it):
In the past, a few people have flown their general aviation airplane into the Bill Martin Airport (AOV) and we have met them at the Airport to deliver their puppy (a pilot and at least one passenger is required for us to agree to this). This airport is located just a few minutes away from the main strip of commerce in Ava. Call us to discuss this possibility if interested.
